Abu-Ghazaleh donates 3000 TAGITOPs to the Ministry of Education

Abu-Ghazaleh and the Ministry of Education Launch a Partnership to Support RAMP Initiative

AMMAN - USAID welcomed the partnership launched by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) with the Ministry of Education under the Patronage of HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Prof. Mohammed Thneibat to support the USAID and UKAID funded Early Grade Reading and Math Initiative (RAMP). This public-private partnership will contribute to raising public awareness about the importance of early grade reading and math.

Through this partnership, TAG-Org will provide training and capacity building through TAG Knowledge Society to RAMP Ambassadors, young volunteers from across Jordan. TAG-Knowledge centers will host RAMP training activities and community.

TAG-Org will also provide awards to teachers who demonstrate outstanding commitment in improving their practice and community members and parents who are exceptional volunteers and advocates for the initiative and its goals. 

HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of TAG-Org, highly appreciated the thank you letter from HE Dr. Mohammed Thneibat, Minister of Education in which the Minister appreciates the efforts of Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh in supporting education.

Stressing on the significance of digital transformation that can’t be evaded and should start at the early grade education, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh declared his decision to donate 3000 TAGITOPs to the Ministry of Education to be used by digital students at public schools.

During the event, delegate of Minister of Education, USAID Mission Director, and Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, awarded prizes to the winning teachers of the “Experienced Teacher” and the winning parents of the recent “I Read the Book” RAMP contest.

The Early Grade Reading and Math Initiative (RAMP) is a $48 million (JD 34.1 million) five-year project funded by USAID and UKAID, and was officially launched by Her Majesty Queen Rania Abdallah in April 2015. The initiative is implemented by the Ministry of Education and RTI International in partnership with many local and international organizations.

By 2019, RAMP aims to increase the number of early grade students in public schools reading with comprehension and doing mathematics with understanding – two areas in which students have historically performed poorly. In order to achieve this goal, RAMP will train and coach over 14,000 teachers to improve reading and math instruction for more than 400,000 public school students in grades K2-G3.
